We facilitate matching for:
- Families looking for an Au Pair or Live-In Language Tutor
- Au Pairs or Live-In Language Tutor looking for an overseas family to join
A Live-In Language tutor arrangement is generally a more short-term experience, where a host family seeks an AuPair from abroad to come stay with their family and benefit from them and their child learning the AuPair’s native language. This may be in the form of a few hours of language lessons per day or naturally learning thorugh conversation just by spending time together. This usually entails a few hours a day, and the rest of the time is yours to explore your new city or hometown!
The AuPair arrangement is more well-known, longer-term experience which involves the AuPair from overseas taking on more of a live-in nanny role, contributing with up to full-time hours of care for the child, and earning some pocket money on the side.
Being a Host Family involves boarding and providing some meals for your new addition to the family. In exchange for the Au Pair providing care for your child or children, assisting with house chores, school pick up / drop offs, teaching their language, taking them out to play etc.
Depending on the program chosen, a weekly stipend is also expected. You will also need to provide your Au Pair with their own room.
It is up to you and your Au Pair to determine their schedule for each week, and you can plan the schedule however suits you all best, so long as it fits within the maximum and minimum hours expected per different program.
- There are different arrangements available. An Au Pair can join a family for 3 months, 6 months or 12 months.
- We will help with navigating necessary visa requirements for the Au Pair
The Programs:
Au Pair
Commonly thought of as a babysitter or nanny coming from overseas to experience a new culture. But the experience of being an Au Pair offers a lot more than initially meets the eyes.
There are also different options that encompass what an ‘Au Pair’ is.
Typically an Au Pair is a live-in nanny who provides babysitting services in exchange for accommodation and meals and receives pocket money each week. This arrangement usually lasts between 6 months-12 months and consists of 20-30 hours a week. A usual day might include helping with cooking, cleaning, getting children up, school drop offs / pick ups, outings etc.
Live-In Language Tutor and Care
There is another option of a 3 month stay. Where the main purpose of the “Au Pair’ is to teach the child and / or family their native language. This arrangement involves the “Au Pair” living-in with the family in exchange for meals and board, but only contributing with language immersion for 15 hours a week. A usual day may look like conducting more ‘formal’ language lessons or simply having casual conversations to help the language sink in. As well as outings and perhaps drop offs or pick ups.
We welcome applications from all countries, but please be aware, there are limitations on eligibility for our programs, surrounding which passport you hold.
We will then really get to know you and what you are looking for in either an Au Pair or a Host Family. So we can set you up to get in contact with different people who are likely to match what you’re looking for.
